How to Shave Your Head

If you are wondering how to shave your head, read on. It is hard enough to shave your face without cuts and nicks. So shaving your head can be challenging. You have to shave your head mostly by feel. You can shave your head with ease if you follow these simple steps.

Trim it down

It’s best to shear off your head before shaving. Use a trimmer to trim your hair down to a buzz cut. Shorter hair will make it easier to shave and hair won’t tug in the razor.

Wash your hair

Use soap or shampoo to wash your head. It will soften the hair and relax the scalp. The skin pores will open up and you’ll have a smooth and frictionless shave.

Use Oil

Apply oil on your head. It will hydrate the skin and provide a layer of protection against razor blades. You’ll need less drag on soft skin and the shave will be smooth and easy.

Choose the right razor

If you are shaving for the first time then you should go with the cartridge razor. Make sure that blades of the razor are not dull. More experienced people can choose a safety razor. Less irritation is caused by the ultra sharp single blade but if you don’t know what you’re doing you’ll end up with cuts.

Apply shaving cream

You can use a shaving gel or the old school shaving cream. Apply a light and consistent layer of the cream/gel. Be sure to cover your entire head.

Time to shave

Take it slow. Start from the top of the head and shave downwards. Use short and steady strokes and do not put extra pressure on the razor. Clean the razor after every few strokes. Fell with your hand to check that you haven’t missed a spot. Rinse with water when done. If you have missed a patch, reapply the shaving gel and clean it up.

Soothe the skin

Use any antiseptic and non-alcoholic aftershave to soothe the scalp.
